At our head office in Hamilton, and across our branch network stretching from the South Coast to QLD's Gold Coast, our employees have joined together to celebrate International Women's Day for 2022.
#BreakTheBias
The theme for International Women's Day this year is Break the Bias, which asks us all to examine the existing bias, stereotypes and discrimination still prevalent in our society.
The theme asks us to strive to act in a way that creates a tomorrow where diversity, equality and inclusivity are the norm.
Looking to our leaders
Our branch and head office staff attended IWD2022 morning teas today, and shared their stories of achievement and pledges to help Break the Bias.
I will celebrate women's achievements
Aimee Taylor, Tanilba Bay Branch - #BreakTheBias
Our staff were thrilled to hear from one of our most celebrated and admired women in leadership, Jayne Drinkwater, as part of these events, as she shared her thoughts on what we can all do to Break the Bias both within Greater Bank, and more broadly.
You can watch Jayne's presentation in full below.
Lighting up to raise awareness
Greater Bank staff and Hamilton residents will notice our Head Office building on Beaumont Street lit up in purple, the colour of international Women's Day this week, as we seek to raise awareness of this year's event and theme.
How Greater Bank is seeking to Break the Bias
- In a stat that is not well known, 60% of our Board of Directors in 2022 are women.
- Overall, an overwhelming 71% of our employees are women, showing that Greater Bank really does rely on so many talented, dedicated and resourceful women to operate.
- In the last 12 months, 76% of employees who were promoted at Greater Bank were women. This is a positive step in making sure women and men play an equally important role at Greater Bank and helping to address gender imbalance in leadership roles – 38% of our leaders are women (56 out of a total of 147).
- In 2014, Greater Bank was one of the first employers in NSW to introduce unlimited paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave to support women and families who may be experiencing family or domestic violence. We have comprehensive support programs to connect women and families into.
- Greater Bank facilitates keeping in touch days with women who are on parental leave to ensure women stay connected to the workplace and continue to be aware of opportunities to progress their careers while taking on caring responsibilities.
