local organisation supporting parents in Armidale, Helping Children & Families Association (HCFA) has been named the winner in the latest #GreaterNewEngland Community Funding Program.
This latest round of funding forms part of Greater Bank’s $450,000 investment into community organisations in the New England region since 2016.
Established in 2005, HCFA provides practical support for families with young children by connecting them with a volunteer to provide practical and social support in the home.
HCFA President, Lone Petrov, said this funding will directly support families of Armidale.
“Our volunteers visit the homes of families and act as an extra set of hands to help with everyday tasks like accompanying the family to run errands, supervising and playing with the children while the parent showers, or sometimes just offering a friendly face for a parent to chat to over a cup of tea,” she said.
“Raising children is one of life’s greatest joys, but it does take a village and without the support of family or friends, it can leave parents with little time to themselves.
“Our programs aim to support parents where they need it so that they can thrive in parenthood, for themselves and their children.
“We are immensely grateful to Greater Bank for their support which will allow us to continue supporting local Armidale families.”
Greater Bank’s Regional Sales Manager, Will Boyd, said the winning organisation plays an important role in the community.
“This latest round of our New England Community Funding program is an exciting one as we have reached a $450,000 milestone,” Mr Boyd said.
“Over the past six years, we have invested in the local region by supporting local P&C associations, sporting clubs, not-for-profit and volunteer organisations and charities.
“Greater Bank is incredibly proud of the Community Funding program, which gives the community the chance to cast a vote for the group they think most deserves the funds.
“The Helping Children & Families Association does such important work for families in the Armidale area, so it is fantastic to see this funding awarded to them.
“We are thrilled to support organisations that are meaningful to the community, just like HCFA.”
Kootingal Moonbi Swimming Club, Armidale Junior Rugby Union Club and Gunnedah Volunteer Support Group for Northern NSW Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service are the entrants for the April round of the #GreaterNewEngland Community Funding Program, where there’s another $3,000 up for grabs.
Voting is open online until 5.00pm Wednesday, 24 April at https://www.greater.com.au/greaternewengland which is also where community groups can register their interest in being part of the program.
