Pink Angels are excited to continue to make a real difference in the Dubbo community thanks to their success in Greater Bank’s #GreaterCentralWest Community Funding Program, which has now given away more than $60,000 to over 60 community organisations since August 2021!
The breast cancer charity took out the public vote and with it $2,000, ahead of runners-up, Blue Moto and CYMS Netball Club, each receiving $500.
Pink Angels are a registered charity providing practical care, help and support to patients in the local area. They provide fuel vouchers, meals, house cleaning, yard care, accommodation, and pharmaceutical expenses to people suffering from breast cancer.
Having fundraised throughout the year, as well as relying on community support for donations, this funding will make a real difference to the 100 patients they help each year.
“The funding we received from the Greater Bank Community Program will make a great difference to our organisation, as we are continually receiving new patient referrals for assistance from the Breast Care Nurses, as well as continuing to support the many patients already referred,” said Sue Gavenlock, a Pink Angel volunteer.
As for the future of Pink Angels, Ms Gavenlock said that the work of herself and the 45 unpaid volunteers is extremely rewarding, and they love helping out the community.
“Pink Angels are passionate and dedicated to the ongoing future of our charity and making a difference to the lives of our patients and their families during a very difficult and overwhelming time,” said Ms Gavenlock.
“The positive feedback from our patients and community continually affirms to us that the assistance from the Pink Angel volunteers is important and greatly appreciated.”
The September round sees a further $3,000 on offer to our monthly nominees, who are Capes 4 Kids, Newbridge Progress Association and Blossoms Rescue.
The public online vote is open until 5:00pm Wednesday 27 September, and you can support your community and cast your vote at greater.com.au/greatercentralwest
