1st Helensburgh Scouts are ready to provide fun development activities for children thanks to its success in Greater Bank’s #GreaterIllawarra Community Funding Program, which has now given away more than $200,000 to community groups across the Illawarra region.
Topping the vote count in the August round means 1st Helensburgh Scouts receives $2,000, with monthly runners-up Arcadians Theatre Group and Korimul Gang Show each receiving $500.
Matthew Faulkner, a member at 1st Helensburgh Scouts, is excited about the growth the Scout club can have with this funding.
“Scouts is an affordable place for young people to learn practical life skills, have adventures and fun with their peers away from technology,” said Matthew.
“Fees are kept to a bare minimum so additional funding is huge so that we are able to purchase equipment and pay for excursions and camp fees!
“We have Cubs, Joeys, and Scouts groups but we are also trying to start an adventure group for older Scouts, which we would need to renovate our hall to do, so this funding will definitely help out.”
