Sometimes a little support goes a long way.
That is premise behind our Community Funding Program that has now supported more than 770 community groups with $1 million of funding!
The million-dollar milestone is something Greater Bank is extremely proud of, and with it the small role we have played in helping these groups achieve their goals to make a positive difference in the local community.
To each of these groups and their band of tireless volunteers and supporters, we say ‘Thanks a mil’ for making their community even greater.
The program was launched as Greater Armidale in September 2016, and has since expanded into seven regions - Central Coast, Central West, Gold Coast, the Illawarra, Mid North Coast, New England and Northern Rivers – where each month three local organisations share in $3,000.
That means we’re helping 21 community groups every month!
Greater Bank Chief Distribution Officer, Emma Brokate, said the Community Funding Program has made a real difference to communities right across our footprint.
“We’re incredibly proud of this program and delighted to have reached the funding milestone of $1 million!” Ms Brokate said.
“Since launching nearly seven years ago, our Community Funding Program has generated positive action for a wide and diverse range of community groups, including grassroots sporting clubs and teams, school P&C associations, not-for-profit organisations and charities."

“School equipment has been updated, animal rescue services supported, community halls have been upgraded, and so many other causes have benefited through the program’s funding.
“We saw some of the greatest impact of the program through COVID, as many of the entrants used the funding to simply keep the doors open, while special funding rounds have been conducted in the Central West, Illawarra and Northern Rivers to assist those organisations at the forefront of natural disaster support.
"To the majority of our entrants, the monthly prize money can be the equivalent or even greater than what they’d receive through initiating a fundraising program.
“We are extremely proud to play a small part in helping these groups achieve their goals and make a difference amongst the local community.”
We encourage a variety of different groups to enter the program including grassroots sporting clubs and teams, school P&C associations, not-for-profit organisations, charities and community groups.
Groups can enter online to be part of the program and explain in 100 words or less how the organisation helps to improve the lives of people in their community.
