Tamworth Touch Association’s win in Greater Bank’s #GreaterNewEngland Community Funding Program will help young players from disadvantaged backgrounds to take part in future Junior State Cup tournaments.
For taking out the public vote in the April round of the program, Tamworth Touch Association will receive $3,000, with $1,000 going to each of our monthly runners-up, Tamworth Pride and Nemingha Public School P&C.
Tamworth Touch Association President, Stacy Smith, said they want to give as many kids as possible the chance to play in representative competitions.
“We sent six teams to the Northern Conference of the Junior State Cup in Dubbo in February, which is a massive undertaking,” Stacy said.
“We know some kids are missing out on attending events like these because their parents or carers simply can’t afford to pay the registration, travel and accommodation costs.
“We’re an inclusive club and pride ourselves on giving members the chance to play at a representative level, so we don’t like seeing kids miss out like that.
“This money from Greater Bank will be put aside and used to ensure that everyone who wants to take part in the 2024 Junior State Cup will have the opportunity to do so.”

Greater New England Regional Sales Manager, Will Boyd, said it’s great for kids to get the opportunity to represent their region.
“Touch football gets kids moving and teaches them a range of physical skills, as well as helping them learn what it means to be part of a team,” Will said.
“We’re delighted that we can assist the Tamworth Touch Association to give more junior players the chance to experience the fun and excitement of travelling to a different part of the state to play the sport.”
The May round sees another $5,000 up for grabs, with Nemingha Public School P&C, Gunnedah Athletics Centre Inc and Little Wings in the running for a share in the prize pool.
