A cash injection from Greater Bank’s #GreaterCentralWest Community Funding Program will assist Central West Riders SMC in supporting homeless and vulnerable people across the region.
The Club has received $2,000 for taking out the program’s February round that will go towards funding a van with showering and washing facilities that can be accessed by the homeless community in the Dubbo area.
Central West Riders SMC Co-Founder and President, Darrel Harvey, said the not-for-profit social motorbike club raises money to support a number of charities, families and individuals.
“We aim to hold three or four charity rides and events each year, and also support other charity events in the local area,” Darrel said.
“Last month, we held a Mystery Ride and Bike Show to raise money for Orana Support Service for their ‘Highways for the Homeless’ effort to fund a van with a washer/dryer and bathroom facilities to be used by some of the region’s more vulnerable people.
“These vans are very effective and a much needed facility that are used in many locations around Australia, so this money from Greater Bank will go straight towards that extremely worthy cause.”

Also benefiting from the February round were runners-up, Orange CYMS JRLFC and South Dubbo Wanderers, each receiving $500.
Greater Bank’s Central West Regional Sales Manager, Will Boyd, said it’s great to see people getting together to back initiatives like Highways for the Homeless.
“We’ve seen the great success these kinds of programs have had in other parts of Australia, providing homeless people with access to washing and personal hygiene facilities,” Will said.
“We’re delighted to make a contribution to Central West Riders SMC as they seek to help a local organisation make a real difference in people’s everyday lives.”
The March round of the program has another $3,000 to be shared among our nominees, who this month are Eglinton Eels Junior Rugby League Club, Narromine Rescue Squad Inc. and Central West Gymsports.
