Robina Raptors Rugby League Football Club are the inaugural winner of the Greater Bank’s #GreaterGoldCoast Community Funding Program.
Launched in February, the monthly funding program sees three community groups, charities, sporting clubs and the like nominated to be part of the program, vying for their share in $3000.
For winning the community vote, the Robina Raptors will receive $2,000, while runners-up Animal Welfare League QLD and OzHarvest Gold Coast both take away $500.
Established in 2005, Robina Raptors Rugby League Football Club is a not-for-profit organisation aimed at developing, managing and supporting rugby league players on the Gold Coast.
President, Glen Grono, said they are now the fastest growing rugby league club in the region.
“The Raptors field junior teams in both boys’ and girls’ competitions, as well as Open Men’s and Open Women’s teams.
“Support from the #GreaterGoldCoast program will help provide the youth in the area the opportunity to enjoy the game of rugby league and develop their skills in ‘the greatest game of all’.
“This funding from Greater Bank means we now have a bit of a dilemma – whether to invest in new goalpost pads, or buy a new deep fryer for the canteen so we can sell more food at games and use that revenue to fund the pads.

“Either way it’s a good problem to have and many thanks to Greater Bank for its very welcome contribution!”
Greater Bank’s Gold Coast Regional Sales Manager, Scott McCluskey, said it’s fabulous to have the Community Funding Program up and running on the Gold Coast.
“The Gold Coast is a great place to live, work and play and we’re delighted to be able to support those locals who are making the Gold Coast even greater,” Scott said.
“Congratulations to the Robina Raptors as our inaugural winner and I look forward to many future years of supporting the Gold Coast community as it has supported us.”
Voting in the March round of the program is underway, with RSPCA Queensland, Cycling Without Age Gold Coast and Gold Coast 8 Ball Association in the running for a share in the $3,000.
Voting closes at 5.00pm Wednesday 29 March, 2023.
