A cash injection thanks to the #GreaterIllawarra Community Funding Program will help Best Friends For Ever Rescue Illawarra to support dogs taken into their care until they can be permanently re-homed.
Best Friends For Ever Rescue Illawarra has received $2,000 after taking out the public vote in the February round, with monthly runners-up Port Kembla JRLFC and Hidden Harvest each receiving $500.
Best Friends For Ever Rescue Director, Tay Ljiljak, said the locally-based volunteer organisation helps these animals who have no voice.
“Our fantastic team of animal lovers are exceptionally proud of the ‘no-kill’ rescue service we provide for the community,” Tay said.
“We rely entirely on community funding and donations to support fund our service, and are fortunate to have a wonderful group of supporters and volunteers who run fundraising events.
“These funds help with ongoing vet bills, emergency surgeries, kennelling, and keeping the dogs fed, happy and healthy until we can find them their forever homes.

“The support from Greater Bank will assist us greatly to cover the endless food and vet bills we face.”
Greater Bank’s Illawarra Regional Sales Manager, Greg Creagan, said animals don’t choose to become homeless.
“People find themselves unable to care for animals for a variety of reasons, but it’s never the animal’s fault,” Greg said.
“That’s why we are more than happy to be able to help Best Friends For Ever continue their important work.”
Another $3,000 is on offer in our March round, with Dapto Little Athletics Centre, Towradgi Public School Parents & Citizens Association and Northern Illawarra Neighbour Aid in the running as this month’s monthly nominees.
The public can vote online until 5.00pm Wednesday 29 March, 2023 at www.greater.com.au/greaterillawarra.
