The last couple of years have been challenging to say the least.
With bushfires, floods and a global pandemic, it’s fair to say we are living in unprecedented and uncertain times.
That’s why supporting the communities that support us is more important than ever.
The cornerstone of this support in the region is the #GreaterMidNorthCoast Community Funding Program. Since its launch in November 2020, 75 organisations will have been supported to the tune of $75,000, decided by a public online vote.
Since the program began, more than 150,000 people have voted online to decide the monthly winners and runners-up, with $2,000 going to the organisation that receives the most votes and $500 each to the other nominees.
The funding has been shared by a range of community groups across the region serviced by our five Mid North Coast branches – Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree and Forster.
We’re delighted too at the diversity of the organisations that have taken part, with sporting groups, schools, youth and disability support groups, historical societies, museums, indigenous and other cultural groups, all benefiting from the program.
It’s this diversity that makes the Mid North Coast such a special place and a region we’re proud to be part of.
Our March winner, the Oxley Island Community Hall near Taree, used the funding to install a new water tank and generator, making the facility compliant as emergency accommodation in case of fire or flood.
“We also need a disabled bathroom and a laundry to bring the hall up to evacuation centre standards, so we are most appreciative of this money from the Greater, which will go towards achieving those goals,” Function Manager, Angela Budden said.
Greater Bank’s Mid North Coast Regional Sales Manager, Jennifer Smith, is exceptionally proud of the role Greater Bank plays in supporting the region.
“For more than 75 years, Greater Bank has played an important role in supporting the communities that support us. Over the last two years the #GreaterMidNorthCoast Community Funding Program has brought this support to life in this region,”
Jennifer Smith, Greater Bank’s Mid North Coast Regional Sales Manager
“Each month we have seen how these relatively small but no less significant amounts of money have positively impacted those groups and charities that play an important role in making the Mid North Coast communities even greater.
“It’s something we’re exceptionally proud of and look forward to its continued support in 2023.”
The #GreaterMidNorthCoast Community Funding Program is conducted every month, with $3,000 shared between three nominees and the winner determined by an online public vote.
