More than 300 netballers representing the 11 NSW Regional Academies of Sport will head to Port Macquarie in September for the 2022 Academy Challenge.
Now in its fourth year, the three-day competition will be hosted for the first time by the North Coast Academy of Sport with the support of Netball NSW and will focus on development and talent identification across all areas of play.
The Challenge not only provides an opportunity for the netballers to get match-time against quality opposition, but also for the Academy coaches to be mentored by Netball NSW representatives, and Academy program umpires to experience high-level officiating.
Greater Bank’s sponsorship of this event is an extension of our support of three regional academy netball programs - Western Region Academy of Sport, the Hunter Academy of Sport and the Central Coast Academy of Sport.
Partnering with these Academies plays a vital role in the Netball NSW Athlete Pathway by identifying, monitoring and developing the skills of young athletes and giving them access to national and international standard training and development programs, such as the Academy Challenge.
The Academy Challenge will be held at Port Macquarie Basketball Stadium from 24 to 26 September.
