Few community group from across the Norther Rivers were spared from the devastation of the recent flooding. Evans Head Preschool Association was no exception.
Their repair and restoration efforts though have received a welcome boost after taking out the April round of #GreaterNorthernRivers community funding program, and with it $2,000.
Evans Head Preschool teacher, Cath Gillespie, said the additional funding could not have been more timely for the preschool, which was founded in 1973.
“We’re a non-profit, community-owned preschool that is an inclusive service catering for all children and their families,” Cath said.
“We are run by families, for families with 100 per cent of profits going back into our centres, to ensure the highest standard of care & service for our children.
“Like so many organisations across the North Coast, we were impacted by the floods which caused damage and also destroyed many of our resources. This funding from Greater Bank’s community funding program will allow us to replace many of the resources we lost and put some money towards repairs and improvements.”

Casino Beef Week and Coraki Community Garden were named runners-up for the April round, receiving $500 each.
While floodwaters have subsided across the region, the restoration of communities will continue for many months, which has prompted Greater Bank to provide additional support through the May round of its #GreaterNorthernRivers community funding program.
Greater Bank Regional Sales Manager, Scott McCluskey, said the May round will focus on supporting those organisations that have been at the forefront of the flood relief efforts across the Northern Rivers Region.
“In recognition of the extreme challenges the region has faced, we have increased our monthly prize pool for May to $30,000, with $15,000 going to the organisation that wins the public vote, $10,000 for second and $5,000 for third place,” Scott said.
“Our nominees for this special funding event – Resilient Lismore, Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre and Momentum Collective Casino Neighbourhood Centre – have and will continue to be at the forefront of the relief efforts.
“While each are extremely deserving of the funding, we are putting the decision in the community’s hands as to how the funds should be allocated. Voting is now open and I encourage everyone to get on board and support these three outstanding organisations.
“It’s a small way that Greater Bank can thank and support those organisations that have played such an important role in their communities during these unprecedented disasters.
Greater Bank is also running a special Wild Card Draw for the month of May. Any eligible community organisation who nominates themselves in May, and meets eligibility criteria) will go in the draw to win a one-off investment of $2,000.*
