Top level healthcare should be available to communities across Australia, but the rising cost of providing it means much of the funding burden now falls to outside agencies, like the Ballina Hospital Auxiliary.
A funding boost from Greater Bank’s March round of the #GreaterNorthernRivers community funding program will enable the group to purchase additional equipment for Ballina hospital.
Ballina Hospital Auxiliary has received $2,000 for winning the March public vote, with Casino Lions AFC and Lismore Theatre Company both receiving $500 as the monthly runners up.
Ballina Hospital Auxiliary Secretary Chris Penn said there’s always a need for additional funding.
“Ballina Hospital Auxiliary members fundraise for much needed equipment for our Ballina Hospital, with the support of our wonderful community,” Chris said.
“Our hospital caters for all residents of our Shire and the welfare of our patients and staff is our main priority.
“Our fundraising events have been curtailed during Covid restrictions, so outside help is needed more than ever.
“The Greater community funding is greatly appreciated and will be put towards a state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring system that will assist the medical staff in monitoring patients in ICU and is the most up to date equipment available for this procedure.”
Chris Penn, Ballina Hospital Auxiliary Secretary
Greater Northern Rivers Regional Sales Manager, Scott McCluskey, said our hardworking healthcare workers deserve our full support.
“Resources are stretched across the health system, with the COVID pandemic continuing, so we are delighted to be able to make this contribution,” Scott said.
“This monitoring system will free up nurses to provide care to other patients, safe in the knowledge that the system is keeping an ‘electronic eye’ on critical care patients.”
