Moore Creek Rural Fire Brigade (Tamworth) plays a vital role in protecting communities against the threat of bushfires, yet they remain heavily reliant on community support to cover their rising costs.
With the brigade’s role recently expanding, a funding boost of $3000 from the February round of Greater Bank’s #GreaterNewEngland Community Funding Program will enable them to be better equipped to serve the region.
Moore Creek Rural Fire Brigade president, Tom Fulwood, said the timing of the funding could not have been better.
“We are a volunteer brigade that provides community safety by responding to dangerous bush fire events, as well as assistance at motor vehicle accidents,” Tom said.
“We also now have CABA (breathing apparatus) operations to assist with structure fires in our community, which delivers another layer of protection for local residents.
“The funding from the #GreaterNewEngland community funding program will enable us to continue to improve our training facilities and increase the equipment we have available to us at various incidents.”

PCYC Tamworth and Little Bear Childcare Cottage have both received $1000 as runners-up for the month.
Greater New England Regional Sales Manager, Will Boyd, said the RFS provides a crucial line of defence for regional communities.
“We all saw the devastation bushfires can cause a couple of years ago, with large swathes of the state going up in flames,” Will said.
“The Rural Fire Service plays a critical role in protecting properties and communities, so we’re very happy to help out with funding to support their training activities and operations.”
Voting in the March round of the #GreaterNewEngland Community Funding Program is now open, with Australian Air League Tamworth Squadron, Lake Keepit Family Fishing Club and Tamworth City Swimming Club Inc in the running for a share of $5,000 in monthly funding.
The public can vote online at greater.com.au/greaternewengland until 5:00pm, Wednesday, March 30 2022.
