Giving kids as many learning opportunities as possible helps to keep them more engaged at school and broadens their interests both inside and outside the classroom. Parents and Citizens’ Associations can play a key role in adding to schools’ resources to improve educational outcomes.
That’s the approach of Eltham Public School P & C Association, which will be further supported after taking out the February round of the #GreaterNorthernRivers community funding program.
Eltham Public School P & C Association (Lismore) has received $2,000 for winning February’s public vote, with Blazeaid (Casino) and Human Nature Adventure Therapy (Ballina) both receiving $500 as the monthly runners up.
Eltham Public School P&C Treasurer Monique Quinlan said their aim is to support a vibrant learning environment.
“Whether it’s books for our avid readers or subsidising swimming lessons, to our long-term carparking project, no goal is too big or small for the P&C’s fundraising,” Monique said.
“Even more so this year, the P&C has seen how every dollar and small action counts in establishing and nurturing the love of learning – creating the community leaders of tomorrow.
“This funding will allow us to send our student leadership team to experience the Halogen Leadership Day, provide much loved presentation books for our students and subsidise our swimming lessons”
Greater Northern Rivers Regional Sales Manager, Scott McCluskey, said kids benefit from having more opportunities.
“Every additional opportunity kids get early in life opens their eyes to a range of possibilities they may not otherwise consider, whether it’s an academic, sporting or cultural activity,” Scott said.
“Greater Bank is delighted to support the education of our young people so they reach their full potential.”
