Over the past three months, Greater Bank has been spreading #GreaterVibes to help brighten the lives of people across our communities.
We kicked off in September by partnering with 40 cafes right across our areas of operation which allowed them to shout free coffee to their valued customers for a day.
Customers also had the option to ‘pay it forward’ and pass on a free coffee to the next customer. It was another way to keep the feel-good feeling alive!
We shared these Greater Vibes with our own people by giving away hampers to employees to say ‘thank you’ for their ongoing commitment and dedication to supporting our customers through what has been an incredibly challenging period for everyone.
Most recently, we called on the community to help shine a light on those who were most deserving of a random act of kindness.
The response to the #GreaterVibes initiative was overwhelming with more than 300 nominations being received. The stories were as uplifting and inspiring, as they were at times heartbreaking, and a reminder that no matter the challenges we may be facing in our lives, there is always someone doing it tougher.
After much deliberation, a very deserving mother from the Mid North Coast, who was nominated by her daughter, was selected to receive the major prize – a hamper and gift cards to the value of $1000. A further 20 nominees were also selected to receive a hamper and gift cards valued at $200.
Here’s what our winner’s daughter had to say about her wonderful mother.
"My mum works three jobs to support my sisters and myself. My dad died when she was eight-months pregnant with me and five years ago she fled DV. Mum works fulltime shift work in a complaints department for an electricity company, a role she has been in for 14 years. She is also a carer and works a third job is as a waitress, which she took on to help me through uni after I lost my job due to COVID. I would love to give my mum something to show how much my sisters and I appreciate all she has done and continues to do for us, without ever expecting a thank you. When I grow up I want to be just like her. She is always the first to help someone, even when she has nothing, and her empathy and kindness is so rare."
