Greater funding to help Mid North Coast cancer patients

People fighting cancer need all the help they can get, with emotional and other support integral to achieving the best possible outcomes, makes Mid North Coast Cancer Institute at Port Macquarie Base Hospital a worthy winner of the November round of Greater Bank’s #GreaterMidNorthCoast community funding program.

Taking out the public vote means Mid North Coast Cancer at Institute Port Macquarie Base Hospital (Cancer Institute PMBH) receives $2000, while runners up Taree Lions Club and Glenreagh Recreation Reserve (Coffs Harbour) have both taken away $500.

Current patient Maria Fordham said the Cancer Institute PMBH provides exceptional care.

“The Cancer Institute at Port Macquarie Base Hospital has an enviable reputation in the area for treatment, care and health outcomes, as well as the emotional support provided by its highly-respected oncology team, doctors and specialists,” Maria said.

“As a mum, wife, healthcare worker, friend and current cancer patient, I cannot speak highly enough of the outstanding work the Institute does for cancer patients on the Mid North Coast.

“Every bit of funding support is hard-won and is even more appreciated with COVID-19 curtailing the usual fundraising activities over the past 18 months.

“Thanks must go to Greater Bank for continuing to provide assistance through the #GreaterMidNorthCoast community funding program.”

Greater Bank’s Mid North Coast Regional Sales Manager, Jennifer Smith, said cancer patients need all the help we can provide.

“People need to feel supported when faced with a potentially life-threatening illness like cancer,” Jennifer said.

“That’s why we are proud to be able to help the Cancer Institute PMBH with their mission to provide excellent care to patients on the Mid North Coast.”

Voting in the December round opens Monday November 29, with Port Macquarie Women’s Shed, Great Lakes Education Fund (GLEF) Forster and Taree Wildcats in contention for a share of $3000.
