Newcastle Jets have received a welcome boost on the eve of the 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League season with long-term sponsor, Greater Bank, extending its Community Partnership with Club until the end of the season.
The Hunter-based financial institution first linked with the club in 2015 with the aim of rejuvenating the Jets’ community engagement strategy throughout the Hunter and into Northern New South Wales regions. This will continue to be the focus through the next phase of the partnership.
Newcastle Jets’ Executive Chairman, Shane Mattiske, said that the club’s partnership with Greater Bank plays an important role in connecting the Club with its core fan base, as well as the wider community.
“The Hunter is a proud sporting region with a long and rich football history and a strong sense of community,” Mattiske said.
“We know that our ongoing success will always be linked with our ability to successfully connect, engage with and represent our community.
“Since 2015, Greater Bank has played a significant role in shaping the club’s community engagement initiatives, and we are very happy to have them extend what has been a long-term partnership for another season.

“We already have plans to conduct a range of free coaching clinics through our Jets:Play program that gives aspiring young footballers the opportunity to learn skills and engage with their favourite players, something that hasn’t been possible over the last two seasons due to COVID.
“We have also launched our exceptionally popular online Jets:LEARN schools program that features four-weeks of lessons, including instructional videos, a lesson plan for teachers and a worksheet to track results, which aligns with the PDHPE curriculum.
“We already have more than 6500 primary school students participating in this program before the end of the school year. This will no doubt be just the start of another positive period for our partnership that will benefit the Jets and the community.”
Greater Bank’s Group Executive Sales Marketing and Distribution, Craig Newham, reinforced the bank’s enthusiasm for the continuing partnership with the club and its shared community focus.
“Supporting the community that supports us is a core value of Greater Bank and one that is shared with the Newcastle Jets. Together we understand and have long worked toward connecting the community with the club,” Newham said.
“Together over the past seven years we have achieved some wonderful outcomes in delivering programs across the Hunter and beyond and are thrilled to be continuing with a range of community initiatives across the coming season.”
