The strong community spirit at Mingara’s annual Christmas Under the Stars, together with support from major partner Greater Bank, has raised $16,490 for local charities Books in Homes and the Salvation Army Oasis Youth Centre.
Proceeds from the sale of tickets and candles at the iconic Christmas event have been split between the two community groups to help them continue to provide much-needed support and services to homeless and disadvantaged youth on the Central Coast.
Mingara Sports and Community Manager, Sarah Ferman, said they are proud to support these worthwhile charities and help them continue to make a difference to the lives of local youth.
“We are thrilled that our annual Christmas Under the Stars event, which has been running for almost 20 years, has again raised such a significant amount of money for the Salvation Army Oasis Youth Centre and Books in Homes,” Ms Ferman said.
“It’s this kind of community spirit and support that helps these charities continue to thrive.
“This financial contribution means the Salvation Army will provide ongoing support of homeless youth through the Oasis Youth Centre in Wyong, while Books in Homes will continue its work of empowering disadvantaged children by developing their literacy skills.”
Committed to supporting the communities that it calls home, Greater Bank is proud to have been the major sponsor of Mingara Christmas Under the Stars for the seventh consecutive year in 2019.
Greater Bank’s Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Matt Hingston, was delighted to once again be involved in such an iconic local event that provides so much for the local community.
“We love supporting local events and giving back to those who need it most within the region,” Mr Hingston said.
“Supporting such worthwhile charities as the Salvation Army Oasis Youth Centre and Books in Homes allows us to continue our commitment to the Central Coast; a region we’ve called home for more than 50 years.”
