Greater Bank is delighted to announce it will remain on the front of the Newcastle Jets Westfield W-League jerseys as Major Sponsor for the upcoming 2018/19 season.
Greater Bank took on the front of shirt sponsor of the club’s W-League team for the first time last season. This was an extension of Greater Bank's Major Community Partnership with The Jets, Jets: CONNECT, which has been running since 2015.
Through its partnership with Greater Bank, the Newcastle Jets has rejuvenated its approach to community engagement throughout Newcastle, the Hunter Valley, and Northern NSW.
The Jets:CONNECT program has allowed the Club to go into schools and reach nearly 6,000 aspiring young footballers, while Jets:TOUR has helped take the club into Northern NSW over the past three years.
Jets CEO, Lawrie McKinna, said the announcement was indicative of Greater Bank’s commitment to work alongside the Club and use the code of football as a vehicle to connect with the community.
“Greater Bank has proven to be fantastic supporters of the Club and of the women’s game in the region,” McKinna said.
“They’ve helped the Club to grow with programs like Jets:CONNECT and Jets: TOUR, and the fact that they’re choosing to continue to support women’s football is fantastic for everyone.
Greater Bank’s Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Matthew Hingston, said he was delighted to recommit the bank’s major sponsor of the W-League team.
“Women’s elite sport continues to boom in Australia presenting our local athletes with high profile stages on which to perform. The Westfield W-League has been central to this.”
“We were very proud to commit as a major partner of the team last year and after seeing the dedication of these players and their coaching staff, we had little hesitation in extending that partnership for another season.
“They have shown that they are not only great footballers, but outstanding role models and ambassadors away from the playing field.
“Players like Emily Van Egmond, Cassidy Davis, Katie Stengel and Taylor Smith are not only proving themselves to be outstanding players in the W-League but also heroes to the many thousands of young Hunter region girls who share the same dreams of one day representing Newcastle in the W-League.”
“The Jets has been on the cusp of finals football for the last few seasons and with the retention of key players as well as the new signing that will strengthen the roster we look forward to sharing the successes of the team this coming season.”
The Newcastle Jets kick off its 2018/19 Westfield W-League in round two when they are away to Melbourne Victory on Thursday, 1 November, before returning home on Saturday, 17 November, to host Canberra United at No. 2 Sportsground.
