It will be a great day of action and entertainment when Greater Bank and the Newcastle Jets host the first W-League Community Round on Saturday, 12 January at Newcastle’s No. 2 Sportsground.
The match day will provide football fans the chance to not only enjoy all the action on the field as the Jets’ take on the Sam Kerr-led Perth Glory, but also a host of activities off the field with the Family Fun Fair.
Fans are encouraged to get to No.2 Sportsground showing local pride - by wearing their local club socks, kids will gain FREE* entry to Community Round, thanks to Greater Bank.
The Family Fun Fair will feature inflatable games, faces painting, and a range of other football inspired activities, and the match kicks off at 5:45pm.
Being Community Round, Greater Bank will be taking the opportunity to showcase the great work being done in the community by one of our Greater Charitable Foundation partners - the Healthy Youngsters, Healthy Dads (HYHD) Program, run by the University of Newcastle. The program the first of its kind in the world, and is designed to prevent childhood obesity by providing fathers with the knowledge, parenting skills and motivation to improve their health and become healthy role models for their children. Program participants will be forming a guard of honour for the W-League squad, and completing the coin-toss with squad captains pre-game, and will take part in some half-time fun.
Greater Bank Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, Matt Hingston, said the support of the community round was a key feature of Greater Bank’s partnership with the Newcastle Jets.
“As the major sponsor of the Jets’ W-League team and the club’s official community partner, our partnership with the Jets goes well beyond sponsoring a football team. It’s a wonderful vehicle for both organisations to connect with the fans and community and give back to those people that support us,” Mr Hingston said.
“Following on from the success of the A-League Community Round over the last two seasons, we are now extending the concept to the W-League match day.”
“The Jets W-League team has had a really positive start to the season, and this match against the Glory, with arguably the biggest name in Australian football right now, Sam Kerr lining up, is set to be an absolute cracker.”
We want to see as many football fans as possible head to No. 2 Sportsground to support our women and enjoy all the fun and activities of the Community Round
