Travel across Australia and the globe is back and a recent American Express promotion will help three Greater Bank customers to get away sooner.
Patricia Tattersall from Charlestown, Paras Pappas from Hamilton and Garry Faull of the Sunshine Coast, were among the 20 national prize winners, each receiving $1,000 Flight Centre Gift Vouchers.
The lucky three were among the many Greater Bank customers, as well as thousands of entrants from around Australia, who were automatically entered into the draw after using American Express FX International Payments for their International Foreign Currency Transfer during September and October.
Patricia Tatersall, who has been a Greater Bank customer for more than 50 years, thought she may have been pranked when contacted about the competition. It took a follow up call to Greater Bank to confirm the win, and she could not have been happier.
“I didn’t even realise that I’d been entered into the competition so it was very much out of the blue,” Patricia said.
“Once I confirmed that I had won it was incredibly exciting. It’s the first thing I’ve won since a raffle back in primary school.”

Patricia and her husband last travelled in 2019 when they took in the south of France, Spain and Portugal, and are hoping to use their prize to see another part of the world.
"My husband has been ill for the past few years travel has been totally out of the question," Patricia said.
“We’re hoping things turn around next year and can take a trip to Canada. We’ve never been there and would dearly love to.
“This prize is a great way to kick-start the holiday plans.”
Paras Pappas from Hamilton was also thrilled with the news of her win and immediately knew what she would put the prize towards.
“I was thrilled when I got the news! It was the perfect end to what has been a very challenging day,” Paras said.
“My brother is getting married in Greece in July next year. The flights alone are going to be over $4000 so the voucher will go directly towards offsetting that cost so it has worked out so well.”

Garry Faull, a long time Newcastle resident and 10-year Greater Bank customer, now calls the Sunshine Coast home.
Like Patricia and Paras, Garry was shocked by the news of the win.
“I couldn’t believe it! It took a bit of convincing from the Greater Bank rep who called me,” Garry said.
“The $1000 will come in handy though. We’ve recently relocated from Newcastle to the Sunshine Coast and need to do a couple more trips up and back to visit family and finalise thing.
“So, the win has come at a very good time for us, and we couldn’t be more appreciative.”
