Greater Bank is gifting its employees a day’s annual leave on Monday 3 August as reward for their hard work and dedication over the past five months.
With banks classified as an essential service during the government-enforced COVID-19 lockdown period, Greater Bank employees were on the front line servicing the needs of customers and communities during the height of the pandemic.
In granting employees an additional, one-off ‘Day for You’, Greater Bank will close all branches across its network on Monday 3 August. All branches will reopen for business at 9.00am the following morning.
Greater Bank’s Customer Contact Centre will remain open from 8.00am to 5.30pm and can be reached by phoning 1300 651 400.
Greater Bank CEO, Scott Morgan, praised the efforts of all employees for their unwavering dedication to their roles and support of customers over what has been an extremely busy period for the customer-owned bank.
“Already 2020 has been a year like no other for all parts of the community as we have had to cope with and manage the wide-ranging effects of the global pandemic,” Mr Morgan said.
“Like the majority of businesses, we saw incredible disruption to the way we conduct our business, from the need to move more than 400 head office employees to work from home, through to the change in operational protocols across our branch network to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees and customers.
“I could not be prouder of the way we have managed as an organisation, which would not have been possible without the dedication of our people who were willing to adapt and refocus as necessary to ensure the continuity of our business.
Our employee mental health has been incredibly important throughout this process and remains an ongoing priority. This additional annual leave day provides our people with an opportunity to take time out and look after their mental health.
“Closing branch and head office operations for one day is an opportunity to say thank you to our employees and give them the opportunity take a break and hopefully spend a little more time with their family.
“While this may cause some inconvenience for customers, I am certain that all will understand and appreciate our desire to reward our employees.”
