Thanks to the generosity of our Greater Bank employees and customers, we are set to make a huge difference to the lives of young people in need through The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program.
For every Life Saver account opened from November - February, Greater Bank donated $25 to The Smith Family’s core Learning for Life program, which provides children experiencing disadvantage with a proven combination of financial, personal, and practical support to empower them to harness their education and change their future.
We are excited to announce that a donation value of $20,350 has been provided to The Smith Family!
These extra funds are enough to provide 814 literacy support packs, which help children to build and improve this foundational skill.
Emma Dumbrill, Branch Manager at Greater Bank Glendale, said that The Smith Family is so valued in her local community, and it is great to see the ways we are helping them make an impact.
“This is an amazing achievement for such a valuable cause, it shows that we are committed to educating and helping reduce the gap in financial literacy skills and this is just another way we are assisting.
“The Smith Family is a valuable resource to so many people in our community. To know we are doing what we can to further support the amazing work they do is testament to our commitment to helping our communities grow and prosper.”

Emma is also supporting our Greater Charitable Foundations partner, The Smith Family, through their iTrack program, which is an online mentoring program for students in Years 9 to 11.
“I’m looking forward to being able to support and encourage someone to follow their dreams and know there is more than one way to achieve their goals. I was supported in this way by my family in high school years, and to be able to give this support back is something I am very proud to be a part of,” said Emma.

The Greater Charitable Foundation recently provided The Smith Family with a $260,997 grant, which will support their Learning for Life program and Digital Inclusion.
The Smith Family believes that education is one of the most powerful change agents. The organisation works with children and young people to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty – so they can thrive now and into their futures.
Digital inclusion is also vital for the educational success of every Australian child. Currently, one in six students on the Learning for Life program lives in a household that is not currently digitally included, so bridging the digital divide for Australians with lower levels of income, employment and education is essential for realising socio-economic equality.
