Restoring the last remaining cream boat on the Manning River is the top priority for the Cundletown Museum following its success in the #GreaterMidNorthCoast Community Funding Program.
Winning the public vote in the October round has earned The Cundletown Museum $2,000, with $500 going to both Camp Quality Port Macquarie and Prosper Coffs Harbour Cultural Trust as our monthly runners-up.
Cundletown Museum Secretary, Ruth Crossman, said the museum is all about reaching people.
“Cundletown Museum exists to serve the community and its visitors through displays, education, public gatherings and preservation of valuable local history,” Ruth said.
“The museum is operated entirely by volunteers and embraces disability and diversity, with ‘belonging’ being a central component of our existence.

“We hold regular public outreach events, such as our monthly Sunday morning BBQs, special reunions, visits from aged care residents, guided tours for school students, catered morning teas for Service and community groups, and connecting through specific themed displays.
“Unfortunately, Covid has impacted our operations substantially, so this funding from Greater Bank is very welcome, especially as it will help to cover the cost of repairing the last of the area’s cream boats, which played a vital role in the dairy industry for many years.”
Greater Bank’s Mid North Coast Regional Sales Manager, Jennifer Smith, said it’s important to preserve local history.
“So much information about local events and people would be lost without the efforts of historical societies and volunteer-run institutions like the Cundletown Museum,” Jennifer said.
“So we are very pleased to be able to contribute to the museum’s upkeep and help assure its future through the #GreaterMidNorthCoast Community Funding Program.”
There’s another $3,000 to be won in the November round of the #GreaterMidNorthCoast Community Funding Program, with Riding for the Disabled Wauchope/Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour Older Women’s Network and Aussie Battlers Port Macquarie our monthly nominees.
The public vote is now open at www.greater.com.au/greatermidnorthcoast until 5.00pm Wednesday November 23, 2022.
